638 WAYS TO KILL CASTRO

ABC1, 8.30pm

NONE of the 638 ways devised to kill Cuba's revolutionary leader Fidel Castro (pictured) would look out of place in a James Bond movie.

Exploding cigars, femme fatales, noxious gas and a poison syringe disguised in a ballpoint pen all failed.

In this almost farcical political documentary, viewers hear from Castro's would-be assassins and those who thwarted them.

TOP GEAR

SBS, 7.30pm

JEREMY, Richard and James wrap up another season of Top Gear by going head-to-head with their rivals the hosts of the German equivalent of the series.

Meanwhile, James drives Japanese sports enthusiasts around in a quirky Japanese car, and Richard attacks the track in a new supercar from Gumpert.

ARMY WIVES

Southern Cross Ten, 9.30pm

THIS popular ensemble drama series focuses on the dreams and friendships of a diverse group of women living with their spouses and families on an army post.

In tonight's episode a Fourth of July celebration is marred by bad news.

SKINS

SBS, 10.30pm

THIS is a repeat, but it is infinitely better than a lot of other things on at the moment.

In Cassie's world the skinny melancholic girl continues to fool everyone that she's beating her eating disorder.

Her parents are duped. But Sid isn't.
